STORY TELLER

Batur Emin Akyel’s ‘Story Teller/ Meddah’ was one of those competition movies which was emotionally appealing to the audience. It tried to express various philosophies of life and death.

Munr Canar with his exceptional style of acting portrayed the role of a storyteller brilliantly. The background score was remarkable especially when Aziz, the storyteller starts narrating a story. It reached its crescendo with a combination of piano and violin in the end.

Aziz was always behind fame and later understands life’s meaninglessness. He understands the guilt of leaving his wife and daughter late in his old age. Aziz accept that we understand the value of something only when we lose it. It is too late when he understands that leaving his family was his greatest mistake. The whole story is predictable but the different treatment of the story makes it extraordinary.

There were a few times when the movie felt a bit drawn out, but the impressive dialogues really held the audience’s attention and kept them on the edges of their seats.
